Narrative
On the morning of october 2, a mowing crew saw some bubbles coming up from a puddle of water on the row near our pipeline. They called our staff to come out and evaluate the situation. Out of caution, the pipeline was shut down until further investigation could be conducted. Since the release occurred in a swampy area, mobbing equipment and mats to the work site took some additional time but ultimately was discovered that the line had a pin hole leak in the weld. The repair was made with a clamp and the leak stopped. The pipe was tested and then backfilled. The release was attributed to a pin hole in the girth weld from original construction. The reported amount was just over 21 pounds below the reportable quantity, so the accident report is being made for exceeding the $50,000 threshold.
