While performing a semiannual valve inspection, a oneok operator noticed a gasoline odor while approaching a valve can. Upon further investigation it was identified the can valve was leaking. Operator immediately notified his supervisor, and the line was shut down. Initially the decision was made to attempt to add packing to the valve. However, to help prevent recurrence, the decision was made to replace the existing 6� weld-in valve a 6� 600 series flanged valve. The valve was replaced and the line brought back into service.
