43. At approximately 0715 on september 27 the tulsa control center received a call from the hammond fire department regarding hydrocarbon odors and liquid discharge from a pipeline vent in a residential area of hammond, in. The pipeline was shut down and a technician mobilized to the location. Approximately 10 gallons of hydrocarbon (line in gasoline service at the time of release) was discharged to the ground from two vent pipes on the north and south sides of 171st street. An emergency response was initiated and an imt stood up. Another 75 gallons of hydrocarbon was recovered from the pipeline casing by a vac truck via the north vent pipe. An investigation to determine the cause of the release is to take place.
