Narrative
On 07/30/25 at approximately 22:37, a pipeline controller received a hi-hi pressure alarm on the maurepas 24-inch line at norco meter station. The line was immediately shut-in and a pipeline tech was dispatched to the site. Once on site, a crude oil release was confirmed coming from a braided stainless steel hose connected to drain from a thermal relief. Approximately 0.36 (15 gallons) barrels of crude oil was released. All free product was cleaned and contaminated soil and rocks were cleaned up. This braided stainless steel hose was replaced with a new hose and the pressure safety valve was checked for proper operation. The line was restarted at 02:28. An investigation determined the cause of the accident was due to equipment failure. The liner inside the braided stainless steel had cracked due to routine wear.
