Narrative
On tuesday august 5, 2025, kinetic holdings lp compliance supervisor kevin ritch reported a release of crude oil on a rural location near menton, texas in reeves county. Mr. Ritch reported an estimated release of 10 bbls crude oil at the stampede terminal. The release was contained within a rubber lined containment at the facility, and that there were no injuries, no fires, no fatalities, no media involved, traffic was not rerouted, no evacuations, and that there was no bodies of water contaminated. All the released crude oil was recovered via vacuum trucks and no soil remediation was required due to the rubber lined containment. Kinetik recovered a total of 10 barrels crude oil by vacuum truck supporting the initial 10 bbl release. The kinetik investigation determined the root cause of the failure to be instantaneous catastrophic bearing failure resulting in the destruction of the mechanical seal assembly and not due to wear, vibration or lack of maintenance.
