Narrative
On july 17, 2025, a technician was making rounds at freeman station and noticed there was crude oil bubbling from a tank dike. Further investigation determined that oil had migrated to a nearby firewater pond within the facility, which is isolated from other surface waters. An active tank line runs under the dike in that area the oil was observed, the team isolated the tank line, and the bubbling stopped. There were no offsite impacts or injuries. An osro contractor was mobilized to coordinate the clean-up of the spilled crude oil. The tank line was excavated for inspection and a corrosion failure was observed in the body of the pipe, a bolted repair clamp was installed on the failed section of the line. The tank line remains out of service so additional assessments of the condition of the line can take place. An investigation to determine the cause of the release is to take place.
