Narrative
On 05/23/25 at 15:15, crude oil was discovered on the ground beneath station piping at tank 2538 cushing tank farm. The leak was coming from a pinhole at the 6 o'clock position on the cimarron 8-inch line. Approximately 80 barrels of crude oil was released on the ground. Cleanup contractors removed product and contaminated soil. The leak was repaired with a plidco clamp. The line was drained, and the failed section was cut out and sent to a third party lab for analysis. The line remains shutdown. The cause of the leak is still under investigation. A supplemental report will be submitted once the lab report and investigation are completed. Supplemental & final: the metallurgical analysis determined that the failure was due to an internal corrosion pinhole at the 6 o'clock position. The cause of the internal corrosion was microbial influenced corrosion (mic). The mic occurred due to infrequent flow of the line. To prevent reoccurrence, mechanical integrity will inspect terminal lines regularly and operations will introduce flow or flush the line regularly.
