On 05/20/2025 at approximately 10:23, a measurement specialist reported a release at rc smith station. Discovered leak from cracked nipple on the pump side of 23025 - 12inch rc smith to sunoco midland terminal. Approximately 1 barrel of crude oil was released. Cleanup contractors removed product and remediated impacted soil. Repaired leak by replacing failed nipple. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. A supplemental report will be submitted once the investigation is complete. Supplemental & final: the investigation determined the cause of the accident was due to a threaded connection failure. A vibration test found that pump 3300 had high vibration due to bad valves. The valves had reached their end-of-life cycle. The valves were replaced to prevent reoccurrence.
