Narrative
On 5/8/2025 at approximately 09:30, a boardwalk ethane pipeline company (bep) operations technician performed routine maintenance at the port arthur pump station. The technician returned at approximately 11:30 to conduct further work and noticed product leaking from tubing above the pump that was not the equipment on which the technician previously performed maintenance. On further investigation a leaking piece of stainless steel tubing between two (2) retainer nuts was found to be cracked. The pump was shut in to allow repair of the damaged fitting. The fitting was replaced and the pump was placed back in service. The fitting was dismantled to allow further examination of the damaged tubing. Bep believes that the fitting was overtightened during installation or subsequent maintenance which occurred prior to boardwalk acquiring the asset.
