Narrative
On march 26, 2025, at 8:15 am cdt, crude oil was discovered at the tank injection booster pump (201-bp-3) at the clearbrook terminal. Approximately 22.5 gallons of crude oil was released within the concrete containment area of the booster pump. The source of the release was identified as a seal failure. The pump was out of service at the time, as its motor was undergoing repair. Crude oil was pumped out of the containment and returned to the system while the remainder was cleaned up and the cleaning materials were properly disposed of. The investigation revealed that the seal drain had a frozen section due to a failed heat trace. The defective seal was also inspected by the manufacturer. The pump seal has been replaced, and a work order has been issued to inspect and repair the faulty heat trace. The unit will be put back in service once the motor repairs are completed.
