On july 6th, 2025 a relief valve within the epng l1115 system activated and vented 17,513 mcf of natural gas into the atmosphere as a result of overpressure caused by the upstream epng plains compressor station going offline due to a loss of commercial power. The kinder morgan gas control team was notified by the sheriff's department operator, and the local operations team were dispatched to the site. The gas control team redirected gas flow upstream of the relief valve to lower the pressure and allow the relief valve to close. The epng plains compressor station was subsequently restored to service without any further issues.
