Narrative
Based on the preliminary criminal investigation conducted by the reeves county sheriff's office, sometime on the evening of march 5th, two vacuum trucks not affiliated with western midstream, attempted to steal petroleum from a pipeline facility designated for maintenance. During the attempted theft, the pipeline system ignited, causing a fire incident across 6 western midstream pipelines. In response to the incident, gathering pipelines supplying the affected trunkline were isolated. The product within the pipeline was depressurized as much as possible, and the remaining product was allowed to burn off, as this was the safest and most efficient method to extinguish the fire. No injuries or fatalities were reported. Initial agency notifications made: - reeves county fire department was notified at 11:25 pm on march 5, 2025 - reeves county sheriff's office was notified at 11:25 pm on march 5, 2025. - national response center (nrc) was notified at 2:01 am on march 6, 2025. - railroad commission of texas (rrc) was notified at 2:04 am and again at 7:08 am on march 6, 2025. The details included in this report pertain to (258612) cyclone to reeves rotf 12" sec 1 oil pl pipeline system operated by dbm oil services, llc.
