Narrative
3rd party vehicle operator ran off roadway and struck regulation & metering station, causing significant damage to the building structure, regulators, meters, filter and other equipment. Escaping gas ignited resulting in a fire, destroying station and vehicle. Local fire departments, state police, and media were present. Roadway was closed for approximately 2 hours. Inlet operating pressure of approximately 650 psig and outlet operating pressure of approximately 43 psig. Enbridge, upstream supply operator, shut off their inlet valve to station. Neo shut off additional valves upstream of station to eliminate fire hazard. Incident resulted in a 746 customer outage as this station is the sole feed to the atwood lake area on neo_91 system. Temporary gas supply from tankers is being utilized until permanent repairs are made. Customer service restorations are predominantly complete, with the exception of some vacation homes.
