Narrative
The initial indication of the event occurred when the control room saw a loss of scada communications at meter station pin #3000. There was no indication that a release was occurring at that time. Then, ngpl received a phone call from the woodward fire department indicating that the fire department was responding to a fire 1.5 miles away from the meter station. Ngpl personnel were dispatched to meter station pin #3000 and confirmed there was fire at the meter station. The ngpl meter station was isolated and was no longer feeding the fire at 12:50. Ngpl's customer did not immediately isolate their line because they did not want to interrupt service to one or more towns in oklahoma so the fire continued to burn until extinguished at 22:10 on april 20, 2025. No repairs were necessary on the main line. Service was restored to the mainline on 4/24/25 at 16:50. The meter station was left out of service. The cause of the event/leak was determined to be a lightning strike.
