Narrative
On july 10, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.M., atmos energy received notification that a third-party excavator had damaged a 6-inch polyethylene gas main. An atmos energy technician arrived on site and graded the leak at 04:35 p.M. The technician requested additional resources at 4:36 p.M. The release was secured at approximately 12:00 a.M. On july 11, 2025. Due to the third-party damage, on july 11, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.M., an outage of 1656 customers occurred while completing repairs. Gas was restored to the main at 12:17 p.M. On july 11, 2025. Service restoration to the customers was concluded at 12:55 p.M. On july 12, 2025. Confirmed discovery occurred on july 15, 2025, at 4:23 p.M. When an estimate of the permanent repairs was presented and combined with the additional cost of the outage relight, the total of which exceeded the reporting threshold. After further investigation, it was determined that the third-party excavator was digging by open trench outside the scope of the area described in 811 locate ticket. The permanent repair was completed on july 17, 2025.
