Narrative
A call came into duke energy dispatch to respond to a structure fire. Tech arrived on scene and shut the gas service off at the curb cock. The fire department confirmed that the fire had started outside the house and eventually spread to the side of the house reaching the gas service and melting the meter/regulator/riser. This fire took multiple hours for the fire department to get under control due to the hoarder conditions inside and outside the house. The fire rekindled multiple times through the following day. The fire department reported that there was believed to be 1 fatality, but they were unable to access the interior of the house or retrieve the body to verify the fatality. It was reported that 3 people were inside the house and all 3 had evacuated prior to the fire departments arrival. One of the family members who had evacuated the house re-entered the house which led to the fatality. The fire investigator and arson investigator with the ohio fire marshall's office stated that this fire was not caused by natural gas.
