Narrative
A third-party excavator was performing sewer work at the noted address and damaged the 1/2-inch copper service to the residence. Natural gas from the leaking service line migrated into the home, causing an explosion and damage to the residence. The service was retired at the main to repair the condition. Line locate requests were made prior to the work, but the locate marks were not accurate. The company determined the damages met federal reportable incident conditions at approximately 11:14 am and completed notification to the nrc. A 48-hour update to the nrc was made on january 4, 2025, at 8:58 pm - report number 1420426.
