On 11/5/2024 at 22:45 local time, enterprise beaumont marine east terminal operations received concurrent high and high-high sump level alarms at the tank farm sump ve-1011. At 23:03 local time the sump was found to have discharged through the sump vent, releasing approximately 8 gallons of transmix. The sump pump motor had exceeded the load current setpoint and had stopped running, causing the sump to overflow. A thermal relief valve located between the tank transfer pump and the sump had failed open, resulting in higher than normal sump level and sump motor cycling.
