Narrative
Approximately 200 barrels of crude oil were released from the orion to stockholm 8inch pipeline. The date and time of the release (part a q4) are indicative of the earliest possible time the release could have started based on control center data. The cause and preventative measure for the release are under investigation and a supplemental report will be submitted. Supplemental: the date/time provided in part a q4 were determined during the investigation into the release; there were no activities on 10/26/2024 which may have contributed to the release. The potential release was discovered by a controller monitoring the system in the control center, and the release was later confirmed by personnel in the field. The nrc notification was placed within one-hour of discovering estimated costs were expected to exceed $50,000. The cause of the release is attributed to internal corrosion as result of microbiologically induced bacteria (mic). To prevent future incidents, plains cut out, replaced, performed an in-line inspection (ili), and will take further mitigative action as needed based on the ili report.

Narrative
