Narrative
On october 19. 2024 an enterprise technician was at a nearby enterprise facility when at 07:51 cdt he observed a vapor cloud at shin oak energy east pump station. The houston control center was notified and the station was shut down and isolated at 07:52 cdt. Determination was made at 08:17 cdt that a section of pipe would need to be cut out and replaced, and repair costs are likely to be approximately $200k. Results of metallurgical analysis on the removed section of piping indicated that the failure was likely due to a fatigue crack. To prevent recurrence, steps have been taken to assess and minimize effects of vibration. Nrc original report # 1414123, 24-hour update # 1414258
