Narrative
On october 17, 2024, a hebert tank farm operator was performing a daily station check and noticed discoloration around the tank valve on tank 3008 (gasoline service). Employees began hydro excavating below grade for observation. At 8:00 a.M. On october 18, 2024, residual could be seen in the pothole. Samples were pulled for analysis and gasoline was determined to be present. Employees then began draining the tank, which was static at the time of the release, as hydro excavation operations continued in order to determine the origin of the leak. On october 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.M. The release source was determined to be a failed valve gasket. During this event, an estimated 7 gallons (0.17 of a barrel) of gasoline were released. Throughout the event, secondary containment was maintained at the leak location. Dike wall drainage valves were locked in the closed position. The valve gasket was replaced, and the valve was reinstalled.
