During a planned project, tank line 250 in pelham junction was being excavated for an inspection. Product had been drained from the tank line approximately three weeks prior to the excavation. During the excavation, contaminated soil was discovered. Additional excavation and examination identified a pinhole as the source of the leak on tank line 250. The cause of the pinhole was determined to be internal corrosion. Initially, it was not believed that immediate reporting thresholds had been met. However, on september 19, 2024, at 09:30 ct, it was determined that the cost may exceed $50,000, indicating the need to file an nrc report.
