On 8/1/24 at 14:47 cst local operations was injecting ultra-low sulfur diesel (ulsd) on line 02. At 14:51 cst line conditions became transient, and we received a high discharge alarm on the tf#2 oil booster and few seconds later a bearing/seal failure alarm on the 1250 oil booster. This was not an over pressure event/situation due to exceeding 110% of max operating pressure (mop). An operator was dispatched to check on the 1250 booster, and at 14:54 cst, diesel was discovered flowing from the outboard side of the pump seal. The pump was isolated which stopped the release of product. Spill response personnel were mobilized and arrived on-site at approximately 15:05 cst. At 17:30 cst initial cleanup was completed, and all released ulsd was recovered. The line 02 1250 booster seal was repaired and returned to service on 8/02/24 at 13:44 cst. Final site cleanup was completed at 16:30 cst on 8/2/24. All released product was contained on cpc property. Proper internal notifications were made. The la state police (spoc) was notified at 16:00 cst, and at 16:25 cst, a determination was made response costs were likely to exceed $50,000; thus, an nrc notification was made on 08/01/24 @ 16:39 cst.
