Narrative
On 6/30/24 at approximately 09:45, the control room received a call from the public about oil spraying at the claw station. Inbound and outbound line segments were shutdown and the caller confirmed oil was no longer spraying. An investigation determined the leak was coming from a pin hole on the tubing of a discharge side pd pump. Confirmed discovery was made by operating personnel at 11:50am and the texas railroad commission, office of pipeline safety notification was initiated at 12:18 pm. Approximately 0.5 barrels of crude oil was released. Released product was cleaned up and impacted soil was remediated. On 07/01/24, repair was made by installing a new, rigid stainless steel line to the pressure transmitter. The station was restarted at 11:21 am. The cause of the leak was due to defective or loose tubing or fitting caused by excessive vibration. To prevent reoccurrence, the flexible high pressure braided hose was replaced with a rigid, stainless steel line.
