On 6/10/24, a contractor working for wyoming pipeline company was excavating with a trackhoe contaminated soil from a 2023 leak of an abandoned pipeline owned by wyoming pipeline company. During excavation, the trackhoe contacted wyoming pipeline company's active crude pipeline, resulting in an unintentional release. Contributing factors include - >contractor one-call had expired. Contractor sent a new emergency one-call in the morning of the incident. >line marker in the area on the active crude pipeline was 8' - 12' off. >no locating was conducted prior to excavation. >trackhoe did not have a bar across the teeth. >spotter walked away for a phone call during excavation.
