Narrative
On may 26, 2024 at 11:18 am, sunoco operator arrived at pump pad #3 (which is inside the facility fenceline) to conduct an avo inspection of facility. Upon arrival to area near pump pad #3, sunoco operator detected smell of gasoline and initiated shutdown of the pumps. Operator observed pump #12's seal leaking gasoline and the pump's suction and discharge valves were closed to stop the leak. Approximately 10 barrels of the leak was recovered and 15-barrels was released into secondary containment and cleaned up (no water was impacted). Investigation determined that the pump seal failed, then leaked and the seal failure may have been caused by an impeller bore clearance to the shaft.
