On december 4, 2024, at 06:57 eastern standard time (est), columbia gas transmission, llc (columbia) monitoring center received a call from the hocking county sheriff's office reporting a gas leak at the crawford storage facility, located on bigham road, rockbridge, ohio, 43149. Operations personnel was dispatched and arrived on-site at 07:23 est, where they confirmed the incident. A truck had struck a wellhead lead line, resulting in the breakage of a 1-inch blowoff valve. By 07:50 est, the leak was isolated, and the facility was removed from service. According to a statement from the driver, he was in the area for deer hunting and was using the site to turn around. He had his vehicle's dome light on and did not see the above-ground piping. The event has been reported as an incident due to the estimated cost of damages potentially exceeding $147,400. The well master valve was replaced on the week of april 1, 2025. The replacement lead line has been fabricated and was installed the week of june 10, 2025. The storage team is planning to remove bridge plug and put the line back to service in 3q of 2025.
