Narrative
On 9/30/2024, gulf south pipeline's operations technicians, working inside the international paper delivery meter station, noticed an oily substance on the upstream header piping. Upon investigation, they discovered a minor natural gas leak on an 8-inch riser pipe. The operating pressure was lowered and per international paper management's request, gulf south utilized a 12-inch td williamson stopple fitting and a 6-inch bypass pipe to maintain gas delivery to the international paper plant meter station. The header pipe on the index 381-24 international paper meter station inlet header pipe was replaced on 10/9/2024. The responses to part g, question 6 (excessive vibration and breakdown of soft goods due to compatibility issues with transported commodity) are not confirmed but the PHMSA portal software requires at least one response and these responses are believed to be accurate. In this instance, "soft goods" refers to the thread compound or thread tape.
