Narrative
On june 25, 2024, at approximately 03:00 hrs. Edt, tc energy gas control received a scada callout-station alarm, esd alarm, 106 alarm for the stanton compressor station. Tc energy operations personnel arrived at the stanton compressor station, located in powell county, kentucky, and discovered that unit 106 had esd'd as designed. It was determined that the incident occurred as result of metal wear within the turbine diffuser housing of unit 106. The metal wear allowed heat to escape and allowed surrounding electrical equipment, such as, wiring, transmitters, and conduit to smolder and melt. The incident was identified by the station's fixed temperature detector system and therefore initiated the esd of unit 106. Unit 106 was shut down due to the incident and is currently shut down until repairs can be made. The stanton compressor station, as a whole, was not shut down due to this incident.
