Narrative
On october 24th at approximately 9:36am, nipsco dispatch was notified by the second party excavator, that the excavator had struck a 6" hp distribution steel line that resulted in a release of gas. Nipsco crews responded and stopped the flow of gas using stopple fittings. Two residences were evacuated and the same two homes were without gas upon stopping. The excavator failed to maintain proper dig clearance while using backhoe equipment. This 2nd party operator will no longer be performing work for nipsco as the remedial action.
