Narrative
On october 15, 2024, at approximately 1617, blankenship utilities, a contractor directionally drilling a water line, struck a 2" main located at 5992 colby hunt court, haymarket virginia. Washington gas was notified at 1632 via fireboard of the third party damage. The resulting damage, which was a mechanical puncture of the main, caused a gas leak. The first washington gas crew arrived at 1714. Subsequently, gas migrated into the house located at 5992 colby hunt court, found an unknown ignition source, and at approximately 1736 an explosion occurred at 5992 colby hunt court. Washington gas stopped the flow of gas by squeezing off the main at 1847, creating an outage of 8 customers. Crews have restored gas service to the area. There were no injuries from this incident.
