Narrative
The rochester gas &electric (rg&e) control room was notified by 911 of a fire at 154 thompson rd. In henrietta, ny at 03:40 on 08/08/2024. The rg&e control room dispatched emergency response personnel in accordance with company procedures. The rg&e control room notified the nrc on 08/08/2024 at 10:56 (report #1407285) and provided the required 24-hour update to the nrc (report #1409131). There are no reports of injuries related to the incident and the structure was extensively damaged by fire. Rg&e performed a leak survey in proximity to the incident in accordance with company o&m procedures and no underground leaks were identified. As reported to a local news station by the monroe county sheriff's office, "when the deputies arrived, they located a person standing in the front yard of the residence. The deputies started talking with that person. It then became very clear that the person was suffering a mental health crisis. The deputies were able to detain him and he has since been transported up to one of our local hospitals for treatment." fire/police investigators determined that the rg&e service regulator was intentionally damaged by the resident and, in addition, the gas meter was not located in an initial search of the structure.
