Narrative
On 7/18/24 at 1506 hrs, washington gas received a report of a broken natural gas line near the intersection of lee jackson mem. Hwy & stringfellow rd. Chantilly, va. 20151 from a company working on fiber. On arrival, wg personnel worked with fairfax county fire and police to secure the scene. Washington gas gained access on each side of the damaged facility to perform a double squeeze-off operation. This portion of the system was a two-way feed. Washington gas stopped the gas flow 0109 hrs on 7/19/24 and the roadway was opened just after. On 7/19/24 at 1310 hrs gas was restored to normal operation. Washington gas does not view this event as 'significant' pursuant to the definition of 'incident' in 49 c.F.R �191.3 (3) (in addition to the event not meeting the criteria for 'incident' pursuant to 49 c.F.R ��191.3 (1) and(2)), but is filing this report because the event is an open matter at the virginia state corporation commission.
