Narrative
On january 18, 2024, at approximately 0930, a delivery truck struck a meter and riser which was located at 1223 marion barry ave se, washington d.C.. Washington gas was notified at 0940 via fireboard of this incident. The resulting damage, which was a broken riser, caused a blowing gas leak. Subsequently, a flash fire occurred on the second floor at 1225 marion barry ave se. Minutes later, at approximately 1001, an explosion occurred at 1223 marion barry ave se. One person was injured and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The first washington gas crew arrived at 1016. Washington gas stopped the flow of gas using valves at 1251, creating an outage of 36 customers. Crews have restored service to the customers that were affected.
