Narrative
On 12/15/2023, socalgas responded to a gas leak at 3401 w empire ave, burbank, ca. Socalgas safely controlled the release of gas. Upon controlling the gas, it was discovered that a material failure on a 6-in valve caused the release of natural gas. There were no injuries or fatalities as a result of this incident. This incident was reported to the DOT and cpuc due to costs associated with the incident potentially exceeding $139,700. The damaged valve was removed and replaced with new pipe.
