Narrative
At 15:48 on october 11th, operations control received a cpm rupture alarm on the el dorado to kansas city #6-10" pipeline and initiated a code red. The controller immediately shutdown el dorado unit #2, closed upstream and downstream rovs, and then contacted local operations to notify personnel of the release event. At 15:49, magellan was notified by the landowner that he struck a pipeline while dredging an empty pond. Local personnel were dispatched to the area and closed upstream and downstream manual valves, further isolating the segment. Clean-up activities were initiated. After drain-up activities were completed on the pipeline, the damaged pipe section was removed and replaced with new pre-tested pipe. The line resumed normal operations on the afternoon of 10/14/2023. To prevent a re-occurrence, the landowner was informed of state one call laws and verified there are no plans to dredge other ponds in the right-of-way.
