On october 2, 2023, a company employee was conducting a routine inspection at the greensboro junction tank farm in greensboro, north carolina. The employee observed sheen on an oil water separator. Upon further investigation, the employee identified staining in a dike and observed product on tank 863's ring wall. Tank 863 was removed from service, and its product was transferred to tank 880. A tank inspection is being completed to determine the cause of the crack that led to the release. Update: the leak resulted from multiple cracks in the drain dry sump. Dike flooding may have caused the sump to float resulting in stress on the connecting welds.
