On september 9, 2023, at 2:09 pm edt the edmonton control center received a building leak detection alarm at the marysville metering station. The control center notified operations personnel of the alarm and a field technician was dispatched to the station. The station isolation command was sent, and marysville metering station was fully shut down and isolated at 2:14 pm edt. At 2:30 pm edt field technician arrived at the station and discovered approximately 25 gallons of crude oil had been released inside the building. The source of the release was confirmed to be a pinhole on the underside of the drain line of strainer vessel 3 on the line 5 meter skid. All released product was contained in the concrete secondary containment beneath the meter skid. The meter was isolated and drained, and product was immediately cleaned up. The cause of the release was identified as internal corrosion due to low/no flow of product in the drain line. The drain line has been removed and blinded off. The meter is currently locked out until repairs can be made at a later date.
