Narrative
Nustar operations personnel discovered a leak inside nustar's hat ranch traps station on the 03p mckee-el paso pipeline system during a routine inspection. Approximately 12.15 gallons of gasoline was released and contained inside the facility. The leak originated from an above-grade grease fitting on a 3-inch blow down valve located upstream of the receiver trap. The grease fitting was replaced, and the impacted soil was treated. The failed grease fitting has been preserved and will be examined to determine cause of failure. Note - the exact date and time in a(4) cannot be determined and is estimated based off operating pressures recorded prior to the discovery of the leak and used to calculate the pressure in e(1). Update - a rubber-like ring, providing a seal between the sealant injection plug and the button head face, appears to have split and separated from the plug.
