Narrative
On 7/31/2023 at approximately 08:00, a measurement technician was performing end of month activities and discovered release at the hudson station. Control center was immediately notified, shutdown the pipeline and local personal were dispatched to the location. A total of approximately 23 barrels of crude oil was released from facility piping and was fully contained to company facility property. All free product was cleaned up and contaminated soil removed. The failed pipeline section was cutout and replaced. On 8/4/2023 at 17:00, the line was restarted. The cause of the failure was determined to be internal corrosion. The chemical corrosion program treatment program was reviewed with chemical vendor which resulted in a recommendation for treatment with different chemical injections and installation of coupon water traps. Modified treatment program will be implemented along with water trap installation to more closely monitor conditions.
