At approximately 0730 on 7/29/23 imtt-bayonne field operators were setting a transfer from tk 8564 to 8571, while checking the other tanks in the yard shut an operator noticed the piping/nipple to the prv on tk 8560 leaking. They immediately called the imtt bayonne supervisors who responded to the scene. When the supervisor arrived on scene the operator was in the process of shutting the valve to the prv piping to stop the leak. We notified auchter industrial to come in and start remediating the area. The imtt-bayonne maintenance department was called to the site to change the prv piping. When maintenance removed the piping they noticed a slight fracture along the pipe threads, causing the leak to occur. Approximately 40 bbls were released, approximately 25bbls were recovered via vacuum truck. All released gasoline was contained inside the imtt bayonne facility. Imtt-bayonne will complete an environmental remediation investigation and act appropriately when the investigation is complete. Nipple was originally schedule 80 replacement nipple installed is schedule 160
