On 7/13/23 at 14:00 cst, marathon pipeline was notified of a third-party fire at a shared block valve site. The mpl block valve is located approximately 15 ft from the third-party valve that was on fire. Initial responders were unable to get close enough to mpl assets to determine if they were affected as well. At approximately 19:15 cst, it was determined that mpl assets were also on fire. The cause of the fire on the mpl assets was due the extreme heat from the third-party fire damaging the valve components, causing them to fail. Supplemental filed to finalize report.
