On may 30, 2023, at 0130 a controller at the houston control center received a lel alarm on unit310 at the dewitt station in dewitt county, texas. At 0220, an operator arrived on site and discovered 1.69 bbls. Of crude were released in the unit skid and containment area. The release did not leave the containment area. Spill pads and a vacuum truck were utilized to recover the product. The pipeline was restarted at 0800. On july 31, 2023, an investigation concluded the release was due to a failed pump seal. Seal failure analysis indicated there was a clogged seal flush port, which resulted in high temperatures and lead to the seal drying out. The pump seal failed following these occurrences.
