Narrative
On 8/7/2023 at 10:25 am, a third party contractor contacted kinder morgan tejas gas control regarding a line strike. At 10:30 am tejas operations dispatched tejas personnel to the site to investigate the line strike. The employee arrived onsite at 11:05 am and confirmed the third party line strike. The operator immediately began isolating the line with the downstream valve being closed at 12:47 pm and the upstream valve being closed at 1 pm. The line strike was caused by a third party contractor who was completing mowing in the ditch line. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the pipe was exposed at the point where the line strike occurred. Additionally, it was identified that there were line markers 5 feet from the line strike. In order to prevent reoccurrence, the repaired line was buried with 3 ft. Of cover. Following repairs, the line was returned to service on 8/12/2023 at 12:10 pm.
