Narrative
On september 23, 2023, at approximately 10:25, peco was notified by the fire department of a fire in the roadway on providence rd in yeadon, pennsylvania. Upon arrival, it was determined that a tree came down due to storms in the area which caused a primary electric wire to fall into the street. It is believed at this time the downed electrical wire energized a foreign facility, which caused an electrical arc between the foreign facility and peco gas main, which burned holes in the buried 6" gas main and ignited at the location of the down wire. All 6 homes in that immediate area were evacuated. Gas from the damaged 6" main then migrated into 14 w. Providence rd and at approximately 1315 there was an ignition inside the home. Peco gas crews then excavated down and installed a clamp over the damaged section of 6" main at approximately 1545. Peco investigation is continuing.
