Narrative
On 8/21/2023, socalgas crews responded to a pipeline rupture on sl 41-53 at mission lakes blvd & western ave, desert hot springs, san bernardino. Upon investigation, the 6-inch distribution line ruptured from rushing water found in area with debris and earth in the extreme weather conditions of hurricane hillary. The distribution pipeline had been isolated and is still currently out of service with repairs ongoing. No injuries or fatalities resulted from this incident. This incident was reported to the DOT and cpuc due to gas release and damages exceeding $139,700. Update 10/27/2023: > part a4 earliest local time incident reporting criteria was met: 12:17 > repairs have been completed as of 09/22/2023, and service had been restored as of 09/25/2023. > part g2 natural force damage sub-cause changed to "heavy rains/floods". Specification: "other, hurricane hillary". Update 10/31/2023: > updated report type to "final"
