Narrative
During severe winds occurring in ne ohio, a live power line fell onto an hp first cut regulator at 14249 sperry rd newbury, oh causing approximately a 2-inch diameter hole in the top of the relief valve. The hole caused mp gas to escape and ignite. Although there was an ignition of natural gas, there was no explosion. Damages did not exceed $139,700, nor did gas loss exceed 3 million cubic feet, and there were no injuries nor fatalities. Residents at 14249 sperry road (a female and two children) were evacuated. Gas was isolated at 9:23am. The cause for the delay in gas shut off was due to live power lines laying in water next to the hp first cut regulator. Once the power company (the illuminating company) confirmed it was safe to enter the yard, deo first responders extinguished the flame and isolated the leak. Repairs were made and the customer was back in-service the same day.
