On april 12, 2023, at about 1420hrs operations technician was contacted by a guard at a neighboring road concerning a sound coming from the pearsall compressor station. The technician notified hcc of the report and headed to the station to investigate. At about 1517hrs, the technician received additional information from the guard and notified hcc who shut down the compressor. At about 1630hrs, the technician arrived at the station and confirmed the psv on unit 1 had relieved. The psv was disassembled, and condensate was found in the sensing tube and pilot, causing the psv to lift prematurely. The pilot was rebuilt using new parts, and a drain line with a liquids trap was fitted to the pilot. On april 13, at 1623hrs, after reviewing scada information, enterprise determined the relief valve discharged 4.7 mmscf of natural gas, thus, meeting the definition of an incident per 49 cfr 191.3. The trrc was notified on at 1638hrs, incident number 2822.
