Piedmont natural gas responded to a report of a vehicle damaging a mainline valve. Upon arrival operator observed visual damage of the blowdown stack and detected a small gas leak from a grease fitting on the mainline valve. Field operations monitored a minor gas reading well below lel, enabling field operations to safely hand dig to expose the below ground piping to investigate the extent of the damage without any isolation of this segment. Gas flowed normally during the impacted segment of line 272 containing 272-mlv-3 site during the entirety of the repair response. Unable to determine gas volume.
