At approximately 10:30am, magellan operations personnel began refilling a pig trap after routine pigging operations. At approximately 11:10am magellan operations personnel noticed product releasing from the sump vent pipe. It was determined the pig trap drain valve leading to the sump was inadvertently left open resulting in product backing up and releasing through the sump vent pipe. Operations were immediately stopped and cleanup activities were initiated. After cleanup activities were completed, the line was placed back into service. To prevent a reoccurrence, 9.01-adm-110 perform pigging operations procedure was reviewed with the affected employee with an emphasis on closing the trap drain valve.
